Polish MiG-29s (9.12A) during the first visit in Israel - spring 1997. It wasn't an ordinary courtesy visit but participation in joint exercises. Fulcrums were 2 weeks there and the operation was surrounded by secrecy to the extent that from the moment of departure from Poland until return, insignia and markings that could help to identify them were removed. Probably the purpose of the visit was to familiarize Israeli pilots with the latest and the best fighter of their potential opponents: Iran and Syria. The most interesting is Polish MiG-29s received the emblem of the Israeli 'Negev' Sqn. You can see the empty places after Polish Air Force "checkerboard" on the fins. |
